| biography Bernadette Comac was born in Northern Ireland. She studied music and ethnomusicology at Queen’s University, Belfast, where she completed an M.Phil in Music Composition in 1996. Her work combines electro-acoustic music with elements of performance art. She has won a number of awards for her work, most notably the Midnight Court competition in 1994 for her piece for voice, tape and live electronics. Her work has been performed at various festivals including the Sonorities Festivals of Contemporary Music. In 2002 she was shortlisted for a ‘Women in Music’ Bursary. In more recent years she has taken a more radical approach in her compositional work with the use of net technologies and elements of performance art She is a member of The Association of Irish Composers and The Performing Rights Society. She is represented by The Contemporary Music Centre, Dublin. |
